Kiddie Pop I copied this cd from a friend and I'm happy I didn't spend my hard-earned cash on it. After a few listens, some of the songs became catchy and likable. The problems with the album are (a) Timbaland, who produces very repetitive, computer generated beats with no substance (b) lyrics written by a teenager - Miley Cyrus sings more provocative, thoughtful music than what can be found here (c) some of the songs sound exactly like those on JLo and Kylie Minogue's albums from over five years ago (embarrassed to say but I own those).
HOWEVER she is MAdonna and she can make any song worth listening to. I think she has two or three hits on this album, esp. song #4 !
Upbeat and entertaining I personally feel that the cd was overall very strong and entertaining. I admit that I can understand the viewpoints of both the positive and negative reviews. However in my opinion this cd helped solidify why Madonna still is and continues to be a shining example to others to always follow your dreams and that anything is possible. This cd is the type of cd that grows on you each time you listen to it. With that being said here are my opinions on each of the songs
candy shop 8/10 : a very strong song with exotic beats that would be perfect for a dance club.
4 minutes 7/10 a good collaboration with timbaland and justin timberlake with a strong horn.
give it to me 8/10: an excellent pairing with pharell that makes excellent use of the drums and conveys a message that you are here to win in life and that she will continue on regardless of what others may say.
heartbeat 10/10: One of the best songs on the cd in my opinion. I listen to this track alot on my way to work.
miles away 9/10: sounds inspired from love profusion but a beautiful song on how love can be appreciated even more in a long distance relationship.
she's not me 9/10: One of my other favorite songs about a woman telling her man that the other woman doesn't compare to her but does it in a groovy and fun way.
incredible 8/10: This song grew on me after the second listen and I like how the song praises her love in a very sensual way.
beat goes on 6/10: Another song grower but in my opinion is a listenable song about having fun and enjoying the moment.
dance 2 night 6/10: An ok song for mellow slow dancing moments.
spanish lesson 7/10: An interesting song with some spanish words in it that may not compare to la isla bonita but is still very strong and upbeat with singing about a girl who loves to fall in love and adds the catchy phrase "when you do your homework.
devil wouldn't recognize you 10/10 A very strong and magnetic song about her wanting to release her lover but keeps coming back to him more and more.
voices 7/10 A good collaboration with Justin Timberlake. Madonna carefully crafts an original masterpiece with this song with making the listener think about the societal master and slave roles.
All in all I think that this cd is perfect to listen to for a good and uplifting emotional boost.
One of Madonna's Best!!!!!!! First of all, I am sick of people giving this album 1 star, it is way better than that! Madonna has created such a gem, because it has influence from most of the albums she has created in the past!!! Here is a breakdown of each song and what I think about each:
Candyshop 9/10: This song is very fun!! It is sassy and starts off the album well! Reminds me of the Erotica era, because she says whatever she wants and doesn't care what anyone thinks! Don't take the song too literally, it's supposed to be a teaser for the rest of the album.
4 Minutes 11/10: This was the perfect single to release to get her back on American radio. Great beat and the horns are so catchy!!
Give it 2 Me 20/10: This to me is her best song since Music because it can be a big hit in the U.S. and the rest of the world!! The instrumentation reminds me of "Everybody"+"Music," and you can't go wrong with that!!
Heartbeat 12/10: This song is "Lucky Star" 2008 style!!! The synths are great and the beat is infectious!! Any old school Madonna fan cannot deny the fun lyrics and awesome beat of this song.
Miles Away 15/10: If you mix together Frozen and Love Profusion, then you come up with this gem!! One of the best lyrical songs on the album, and it showcases Madonna's vocals in a great way! This song would definitely be a big hit, and it already is in Japan!!
She's not Me 10/10: Madonna has created an anthem about being better than her signicant other's lover!! It is so 70s disco/funk, which I still cannot believe how well Madonna pulled off this sound!! At the end it gets all COADF (Hung Up style) which is awesome!!
Incredible 8/10: This song is different but in a pretty good way! It is creative and has many different styles(rock,pop,r&b,etc.) I really like it, but I can see a few people having a problem with it!! But listen to it a couple of times before you write it off completely! Think "Cherish" just 2008 style!!
The Beat Goes On 17/10: This is my second fav song off the album!! It is way better than the original one!! It reminds me of Bedtime Stories meets the first Madonna album!! Great funkiness and bells, and Kanye makes a great appearance, without taking over the song!
Dance 2night 14/10: I ranked this song high because it is such a great laid back groove!! Madonna has been making a lot of fast-pased dance songs,(which are awsome of course!) but it's great to see her make something so groovy that you can groove to! This is a great funk song, and I love Madonna's vocals!
Spanish Lesson 7/10: This is the only song in the bunch that I think should have been reworked on!! It has great potential and a great beat! After many listens it is a good song!! After a while, you will start to like it.
Devil Wouldn't Recognize You 11/10: This is so "Ray of Lightish" but with a more urban influence!! I love her vocals!!!! Another song with deep lyrics, and possible great single if she decides to release it!!
Voices 10/10: To all the fans who enjoy Madonna's "mystical side," this ones for you!!! Best lyrics on the whole album and awesome vocals. This Ray of Light meets the Music album!! Great way to end an album.
All in all, one of her best albums ever because she had so many influences from the past, and the album actually turned out amazing!!!! To me, this is a hard thing to accomplish, to have every song be different yet awesome at the same time. A must have for fans, and it will create more fans for Madonna!!!Madonna Hard Candy I never received this item. I am questioning if I should even use Amazon in the future if they have Vendors that do not honor requests. This has been very difficult for me. I have waited over 3 weeks with no response from Sho Time. I am very dissatisfied. Beyond Horrible! Unlistenable! Very disappointed! After a string of excellent albums, starting with "Ray of Light," Madonna releases a pile of garbage! I could not listen to one track without skipping. "Confessions.." was amazing. Why she went in this direction is beyond me. This album totally sucks!!!
