Tracks Shining Star Sing a Song In the Stone Happy Feelin' (Anatomy of a Groove) September Saturday Nite I'll Write a Song for You Boogie Wonderland Fall in Love with Me Got to Get You into My Life
Best of the best Wow! You know how most of the "Best Of" CD's have the same material? This CD has the goodies that are lacking in alot of the EWF collections. I purchased this CD for that reason. Hard to find favorites are all here. Buy it and enjoy!!!!!!
Earth Wind and Fire I have been listening to Earth, Wind and Fire over 20 years and still enjoy listining to there music.good collection even if incomplete Super Hits by Earth Wind & Fire gives us quite a few of their biggest hits. I cannot give this album five stars, however, because others are correct when they write that this CD just doesn't give you all that it could. However, what you do get on this CD is very good material.
The CD track set begins with "Shining Star." This disco era sounding hit shows the group rocking well with a disco twist to the melody. "Shining Star" even sports a mild flavor of R&B--how they managed all that in one song, I'll never know. "Shining Star" makes you want to jump up and dance wherever you are--this is a great beginning track for this album!
"Sing A Song" gives us a relentlessly upbeat melody with infectiously catchy lyrics and some good ol' fashioned gospel harmony, too. Earth Wind & Fire score a huge goal with "Sing A Song." You'll never feel blue again after you hear "Sing A Song!" "September" starts off with a great musical introduction and when the singers come in "September" really takes off! "September" reminisces about a love affair and the melody is another one that you will find hard to forget. The musical arrangement makes great use of the percussion and the guitars, too.
"Saturday Night" sports that disco era sound of the 1970s; the guitars and the vocals work wonders for this number. "Boogie Wonderland," of course, musically captures the intensity of a big city discotheque. Earth Wind & Fire sing about people dancing in a heavenly disco; the dancers move to the beat with so much joy that even their romantic dreams come true as they dance in this disco paradise. Awesome ode to the power of music!
The CD ends strong with "Got To Get You Into My Life." Love that finger snapping at the beginning of this number! The electric guitars work wonders to bolster the number and they sing this to perfection. Awesome! Earth Wind & Fire sing with such good diction that you'll never miss a word of this tune. Excellent!
The liner notes give you the song credits and recording dates. Love that artwork, too!
This CD may not be a complete collection of the biggest hits of Earth Wind & Fire, but you get a wealth of evidence that this was one group that knew just how to reach out to people and move them both literally and figuratively with their incredibly good music.
I highly recommend this CD for fans of Earth Wind & Fire even though it's not the most complete collection of their hits. This CD is especially good for people who are new to this band and who want a sampler to see if they want to hear more from this awesome group.
