Will Smith's easygoing charm makesHitchthe kind of pleasant, uplifting romantic comedy that you could recommend to almost anyone--especially if there's romance in the air. As suave Manhattan dating consultant Alex "Hitch" Hitchens, Smith plays up the smoother, sophisticated side of his established screen persona as he mentors a pudgy accountant (Kevin James) on the lessons of love. The joke, of course, is that Hitch's own love life is a mess, and as he coaches James toward romance with a rich, powerful, and seemingly inaccessible beauty named Allegra (Amber Valetta), he's trying too hard to impress a savvy gossip columnist (Eva Mendes) with whom he's fallen in love. Through mistaken identities and mismatched couples, director Andy Tennant brings the same light touch that made Drew Barrymore'sEver Afterso effortlessly engaging. As romantic comedies go,Hitchdoesn't offer any big surprises, but as a date movie it gets the job done with amiable ease and style.--Jeff Shannon
Hitch: VHS mode Very good : it is hard to find (VHS) movies. No problems with movie, exclancent film.
Lost Person is an idiot. I have no patience for pseudointellectuals who apply trite and meaningless formulaic analyses to subjects that don't call for it. Is the plot entirely original? No. The chances are slim that an entirely new approach to movie-making in a tried and true genre will ever be seen. Their are other mediums for that, new category-defying works like Lost in Translation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The story is, in fact, fairly unique, however, and the goal of a movie like Hitch is to entertain you, not challenge you. When I saw the trailer for this movie, I was not interested. The advertising made it appear cornball, and truth be told, a few moments are slightly too much so. Fortunately, though, many of the cheesiest moments failed to make the final cut, and in fact, a few scenes that are dated and cliche and had the potential to spoil the mood created by an otherwise entertaining production were wisely cut. I found the final product, because of its immensely appealing and endearing stars and characters, and many genuinely fun moments, to be not only entertaining, but addictive. I bought the DVD and I watch it over and over again, always succeeding in enjoying it fully, and always being left with a smile by the charming closing scene.Gotta Love It An awesome romantic comedy. Enough comedy/slap stick for the guys and enough romance for the girls. Great!!!
