The team behindDumb and DumberandThere's Something About Mary--two really stupid, gross-out films that worked and were quite funny--also made this really stupid, gross-out comedy that doesn't work and isn't funny at all. Woody Harrelson stars as a former bowling phenomenon with a hook for a hand, and Randy Quaid is an Amish farmer with a hidden talent for pins. The two join forces and get a sexy business partner (Vanessa Angel), and the film starts looking more and more like a jokey variation ofThe Color of Money. The Color of Money, however, didn't feature jokes about having oral sex with a hideous landlady or defecating in a sink or dragging disgusting stuff out of one's teeth with a length of floss. Bill Murray provides some much-needed relief as Harrelson's ex-partner turned rival. How come this stuff is obnoxious while the equally perverse punch lines ofThere's Something About Maryare a riot? It's a great mystery, all right, but there it is.--Tom Keogh
Great Movie I'd never seen this movie before until about a week ago. My cousin was like "WHAT!" you'd never seen this movie before. So, him and I sat down and watched it. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone. Classic in the making
...the most hilarious and underrated Farrelly brothers comedy made! The Farrelly brothers, who brought us Dumb And Dumber and There's Something About Mary, direct Kingpin, a movie starring Woody Harrelson (Natural Born Killers), Randy Quaid (Quick Change), and Bill Murray (Groundhog Day).
Kingpin is the most hilarious and underrated Farrelly brothers comedy made! It's a story of a has-been bowler named Roy Munson, played by Harrelson, who had lost his hand after his so-called pal Eddie McCracken, played by Murray, runs off and leaves poor old Roy to the gang of bowlers who just got nailed by the duo. Years later, Roy has become a drunken, out of shape, bald headed loser who discovers an Amish farmer, played by Quiad, who can bowl like a pro, and takes him around the country in his car to hustle and win the bowling championship against his arch-enemy McCracken himself. The movie obviously lampoons such past films as The Color Of Money, with a funny spoof on Indecent Proposal, which starred Harrelson also, which features a cameo by Chris Elliot.
The movie is not to be taken seriously at all. It is, however, the funniest film made by the Farrellys, and that's just my opinion.

BAnother fantastic Farrelly brothers film.............. This is a comedy classic starring Woody Harrelson as Roy Munson a former bowling champion who incidentely lost his hand when he tried to cheat the wrong guys, actualy it was his sleazy rival Earnie Mckracken (briliantly played by Bill Murray) who tricked him into it. 17 years later and Roy has not been able to follow his dreams as a proffesional Bowler, he lives in a garbage heap of an appartment and has a rubber hand and a realy bad comb-over lol but just as his luck couldn't get any worse he soon finds Ishmael who is an amish farmer played by Randy Quaid in a bowling ally who has a perfect score and soon Roy tries to manage him so he could win in the tournament in Nevada Randy Quaid is perfect for this role a naive simple person who gets into alot of trouble despite his religion. Watch out for the scene when Roy lives the Amish lifestyle trying to convince Ish to go with him totaly hilarious (We have a bull, I'm gonna go brush my teeth) there are so many other scenes mostly cheap gags involving Roy's rubber hand that are absolutly hilarious and the girl forgot her name has a very unusual fight scene with Roy I never laughed so hard. There are also some gross humor involving the land lady but nothing to offensive. Some how this film was a failure when it was released at the box office but I don't think that audiences where into the dumb grossout humor at the time it wasn't until Theres something about Mary was released. Fantastic I highly recomend this film especialy if your looking for a great laugh this film cannot be missed.
