Best "diet" book I have ever read I recommend this book highly!
It isn't another miracle diet book that promises some new "cure" to your dieting woes. In fact, in the back it goes over some common myths about nutrition and fat loss. You won't find any off the wall schemes to loose (or gain) weight, just tried and true methods to slowly and permanently loose (or gain) weight.
It is full of sound advice (backed by references) on the proper way to adjust your diet for weight loss or weight gain (and even for maintaining your weight.) It includes information on how to judge the right amounts of protein, carbohydrate and fat you should consume to achieve your goal. It also explains what types of protein, carbohydrate and fat to consume. Most people know they should eat better but not everyone knows exactly what that means. This book breaks it all down and tells you exactly what you need to know in reference to food choices.
There is a chapter on supplements that was especially useful to me as a woman. I really didn't understand if I could benefit from supplement or if they were a waste of my time and money. Now I know the answer to that question.
It also includes a sample meal plan for an entire week and some great recipes!
Note: It doesn't include any workout plans, as this is a "diet" only book. But he does recommend some exercise books in the back.
Overall the best "diet" book I have ever read and I have read quite a few.
A great nutrition resource I got this book as a xmas present and read it non-stop the next day. After my second child, I gained over 30 pounds and haven't been able to keep the weight off. I have followed many diets since and never had good success (I lost a lot of weight on Atkins but ended up gaining it all back and then some :( ) After finishing reading the LGN Diet, I finally feel like I have a handle on what I've been doing wrong. There is so much good information here that I never understood before. There is a good amount of scientific theory in the beginning but it is put into words that I could follow and it really made me understand how my body works and why certain foods do certain things in your body. What I really like is that the author gives a complete diet plan by body type and then has a 7 day sample menu that shows you exactly how to make it work. I have just started the program and find it easy to follow. Wish me luck!
