My first Lisa Jackson book This was my first Lisa Jackson book and I will definately read more by her. Except for the madcap driving of Detective Montoya I thought most of the scenes and people seemed realistic. I enjoyed the relationship development between Montoya and Abby Chastain. Unlike some books where the main characters get the hots for each other immediately, this one started out slow, with each noticing that the other was attractive, some thinking about the other and then a relationship developing. There is a sequel here which I am going to order. This book kept my interest and had no real long boring sections. It was also easy to follow with well developed characters you could actually care about and/or detest. The bad guy was not a complete surprise but then again I don't care for stories where it is absolutely impossible to guess the killer because nothing in the book points to or even mentions the killer in any significant way. I was close to calling this a 5 star work, but in truth it wasn't a book that I couldn't put down. It was good and I would recommend it. I hope the next Lisa Jackson book is as good as this one.
Very disappointing This is the first book I've read by this author and it will probably be the last. The book was way too long and the editing was awful. The use of flashbacks was overdone and I was plain bored by the whole thing.First and probably LAST Lisa Jackson book... I was NOT a fan of this book. The writing wasn't that good, the plot was predictable, and the romantic element was so obvious and heavy handed, not to mention the BAD dialog. Maybe I'm just not a romantic, but I don't think romance belongs in a suspense novel.
