This book proves that Snowmen can be fun at anytime of year! Eckstein is witty, informative and extremely knowledgeable in what proved to be a very intriguing and fun subject matter. Who knew the Snowman could be so interesting. A great read with excellent photographs, artwork and history for anytime of year!
Humor and wit. A good, funny, and yet knowledgable read. If you enjoy reading a funny book chock full of anecdotes, peppered with facts and history, then this book is for you. Eckstein has definitely done his homework on this one! In this book, you will explore the many realms of one of the most popular icons of this country if not the world. For me it was the kind of book that you could pick up anywhere, and at anytime. It is always good for a quick chuckle and an interesting factoid. Not Really a Snowjob My sisters are great readers, so the natural Christmas gifts for them are books. I am never certain how they will react to the choices I make for them. However, there are a couple of indicators (after the fact). If they pass the book along to friends, it was OK. If they pass it along to their children, it was pretty good. If they ask for it back from their children, it was really good.
In the case of the History of the Snowman, they even wanted the snowman bookmark back with the book. This was probably the most well recieved book I ever got them. When you consider that they each read between 60 and 100 books a year (mostly novels), this book is a pretty good bet.History was never so fun to read about I so thoroughly enjoyed reading The History of the Snowman that I bought several copies as a holiday gift for my in-laws and friends. Mr. Eckstein has a factual, fun take on the snowman, an icon I always took for granted. Why wouldn't the snowman have a recorded history? It's interesting how the snowman's history relates to the journey of man. Maybe if the school's mixed in some Snowman history in their text books kids would pay more attention. Their is also a website blog for the book which has shown me pictures of snowmen made all over the world, like a living history and Mr. Eckstein was really funny when he read at the Barnes and Noble where I got an autographed copy and a free pencil with a snowman head.Nothing but good things to say! I really like the book, and it made it here very quickly in good condition! it really is an adorable book!
