An excellent altcrafting companion I'm the kind of crafter who gets an idea for a project and makes it happen. I rarely consult crafting books or websites for ideas and have only ever bought one crafting book before. That changed when I saw this book.
Mark Montano covers everything from light fixtures to art to hang on the wall. A lot of his items are lighthearted and would be great for a kid's room, but other items, like his elegant notecards, would be ideal to send to a beloved grandmother. He includes cultural icons, such as loteria cards, and religious themes, such as crosses, in his eclectic collection of designs.
A lot of times, crafting books have projects that are too fussy, overdone or silly-looking. This book keeps those projects to a minimum.
I am very impressed with this book. At the moment, I'm making a 3-D flowerbox from the first chapter, and it looks great. This is definitely a book to add to your collection. LOVE LOVE This Book! This book is my new best friend! Mark's fun approach to home decor and crafting makes it easy to jump in with your thumb tacks and goop and make something FABULOUS! I tagged almost every project in his book, the best part is most of the items are already in my house or at the dollar store so I know I won't go broke making them. That is one reason I love Mark, he can make stuff no one else thinks of from stuff everyone can afford. I have already placed my pre-order for his new Home Decor book! Love It! If you love crafts then you are going to love this books. Mark has creative ideas for every budget and style. I love his alternative ideas and out side the box thinking. This would be a perfect gift for someone who is just getting started. There's a lot of "dark" and punkrocker type stuff in here I was stoked to get the book... there are some nice crafts but there are a lot of punkrocker things in here and there are some "dark" things.... but you can change those to match your tastes. The items used to create these crafts are not always inexpensive nor available at all retail craft type stores so research it before you head out to the stores to create your craft. The needed materials can add up, so be ready to spend some money on your crafts. I like the book but I will only use a couple things from it. Most of it is not my style. Review it first folks, look through it at Barnes and Nobles or another book retailer/carrier to see if you'd get enough use out of it. Books. This book, the Big Ass Book of Crafts made a wonderful present for my daughter. It cost much less on Amazon than all other sites we had found it on. Thank you Nancy in AR
