A Planet Full of Lies This book takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Kegan is the one planet that has no communication with the outside world. No one goes in and no one comes out. It has been that way for many years on Kegan and when the Jedi get a message from a family that thinks that there child is force-sensitive(able to interact with the force). When the Jedi here this they know that the must act upon it. Master Yoda summons Obi-Wan, Adi, Siri, and Qui-Gon to the council chamber. They have to get the force sensitive child to Coroucant in order to be trained. The team of Jedi soon find themselves tangled in a web with Kegan's affairs. The masters and padawans get separated from each other and have to fight endlessly to get back together. I think that this sci-fi story is very exciting with a lot of action and adventure. The Jedi have to fight for many things including there live.
I liked this story but I didn't think that this story isn't the best book by Jude Watson. It has a lot of action and sci-fi witch I enjoy but I don't think this is the best. It did have some suspense when the force sensitive child disappears, but other than that I didn't dig into the book. One part of the story that I liked was the part where Davi( a kid in the story) is missing. " They would find a way out. The would take him with them. But he was gone." This created a lot of suspence in this story for me because usually when someone gets lost like that it is suspensful. That makes you want to read more and to se what hapens to that one character.
What I didn't like about this story is that it didn't have the huge amount of action as other Star Wars books. What I liked about this story is that you can almost imagine yourself in that book fighting or attending that school where Obi and Siri have to go to. I like the whole force control part in this story. They actually use mind control over the people or gaurds. "Greetings," Qui-Gon said. "V-Tan and O-Vieve have sent us here to observe. You will be happy to let us through." " I am happy to let you pass through," the gaurd said, succumbing to the mind trick waving them through the doorway. I like this because it adds a flavor or spice to the story when a certain character falls for a mind trick. It makes this story fun.
My favorite part of this story is when Obi-Wan and Siri have to go to the re-learning center. It makes the story suspensefull and scary. They have to where this costume that makes them listen to what it says. It make you want to know if they would be educated, Kegan way, to death. Overall, this story was alright with some dull moments and some good moments.
The Planet of Kegan The Fight for Truth Jedi Apprentice #9 -by Jude Watson
The Story Obi-Wan Kenobi, just barely back on the Jedi path, leaves with his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, and another team of Jedi, Adi Gallia and Siri Tachi. Siri was the padawan rival of Obi-Wan. She claimed Obi-Wan had made all masters believe their padawans weren't as dedicated as they use to think they were. That rift still lay between them.
On the planet Kegan, visitors were a knew thing. Few Keganites even knew of the Jedi's presence. While Qui-Gon and Adi fight to bring a force-sensitive child to the Temple, Obi-Wan and Siri are mistaken as students and sent to the learning circle (Keganite School).
The masters, unaware of their padawan's disappearance, continue to try to get the parents of the child to agree to allow the Jedi to take their child. The Kegan hospitality guides, on the other hand, are fighting back to keep the child there.
As Obi-Wan and Siri argue, they meet an orphan child at the learning circle. He tries to help the padawans escape but fails. However, the three still become friends. Obi-Wan and Siri want to help Davi, the orphan, out of the Kegan school, but they are having a hard time getting out themselves.
Will the masters succeed in their troubles with the child and their padawans, or will their mission result in a huge failure?
Recommendations I think that this book was an exciting and necessary adition to the Jedi Apprentice series. Exciting because of all the unexpected twists and turns. Necessary because somewhere Watson needed to introduce Adi and Siri. This was one of my favorite books. You should read it. Foreshadowing...Difficult to see, the future is... This book contains some good foreshadowing for Episodes 3 and 4. I am enjoying this story quite a bit already, but this tie-in about things to come in the famous movies really makes this series seem closer to Star Wars than just the names of the characters being the same.
I finished book and and book 10 and I will be writing a review for 10 in a moment. If you like Star Wars and don't want a long, drawn out read, pickup this series!
