Finally, back to what I like most! I own almost all of Suzanne's books. I'm a big fan because she's easy to read (I can read 200 pages before I know it), with interesting characters and a good sense of humor. The past few books from Suzanne have been good -- but not nearly as good as her earlier Team Sixteen books. It was almost as if Suzanne was tired and was just writing to fulfill her contract.
This one, however, was Suzanne reinvigorated and at her best. High adventure, travel to foreign lands, intrigue, humor, suspence, star-crossed lovers and hot romance. Loved it -- couldn't put it down. Keep more like these coming, Suzanne! What happened to Max? I had been so looking forward to Max and Gina's story, but this book was a disappointment. Hasn't Gina already been held hostage before? Why does Max act like an mewling idiot? And why does this ready-for-everything, always-perfectly-groomed guy live in a rathole apartment that has been burglarized so he's afraid for Gina to stay there? Considering his position at the FBI and everything else we knew about him, that seemed goofy. I enjoyed parts of this book, but the whining of both Max and Gina got very tiring. Sigh. I agree with other reviewers who didn't like Jules calling Max "sweetie", but I thought he was otherwise pretty darn good. And having Molly and Jones return was fabulous-loved them both! Worth the wait for me........Gina and Max! I wont go into the details of the plot as many of the other reviews have done. Suffice it to say that finally I get the story I had been longing for .....GINA and MAX! Brockmann didnt disappoint me at all. I enjoyed the struggle for Max and found his final realization quite believable considering all that had gone down. I also was thrilled that Gina and Molly worked together in Africa and became great friends. Having Jones back was a treat too. This book lives up to all my expectations for a great story for both Gina and Max and Jones and Molly.... and frankly I loved Jules as the "best friend" to both Gina and Max.......
I did miss the "team" dynamic just a bit but was so involved with the other couples that it was just a small disappointment. I have to admit, having them come in at some point just might have made this book the best in the series.
Brockmann really does deliver a meaty book filled with enough plot twists, conflicts and romance to make any of her books worth getting.
