A GREAT PAGE TURNER Amy Gutman does an incredible job of creating an atmosphere of suspense and intrigue. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to escape the banality of everyday life and wanting to enter the whodunit world of a great thriller. Neither my wife nor I could put the book down until the end, and neither of us were able to guess the outcome!
Threw me for a loop! I couldn't believe it when Amy Gutman threw me for a loop! I am usually so good at predicting who is the who in the whodunit. Boy was I wrong in this case! The author did an amazing job jumping from person to person without confusing the reader and still connecting the three women involved. The writing made me nervous, it made me anxious, and it made me afraid of what was coming next. Amy Gutman did an excellent job drawing me into the story and making me feel for the main character. And trust me, the ending is not what you expect it to be! -recommendedExcellent thriller The Anniversary was filled with so many twists and diversions, readers can't help but keep turning pages until the end.
Three women tied to a serial killer executed five years ago are once again stalked - this time by someone close to the killer. Gutman uses incredible detail, revealing dialogue and stark contrasts between the lives of characters (particularly the three main women) to weave a stunning tale of suspense. There are many red herrings in this book, and while some familiar with legal thrillers may guess whodunit rather quickly, others will be stumped until the very end.
For me, it was a toss up between characters and I was surprised. That's very unusual, as I read scores of suspense novels a year. The Anniversary is a full-price buy - and a keeper.
