Great Insight! This book provided good insight into the thought process of Aspergians. A good chunck of the book was dedicated to the wild experiences of the author, and while not quite as informative as the rest of the book, it sure was entertaining. I have a new appreciation for what my younger brother is going through and how the world treats him.
Easy Read, Fascinating Stories In all honesty, I was more curious about what he did for the band KISS than anything else. Now that I know that he was solely responsible for the techo-fabulous things that I watched in awe during my childhood, I am enjoying the book even more.
It is flying by, as I am already halfway through after 2 nights of reading before bed. I do recommend it and will be passing it around for others to enjoy.Providing an insight into my brother's mind I bought this book for two reasons. 1) I had read Augusten Burrough's memoirs, and I was interested in his brother's point of view. 2) My own brother has autism, and I have read several memoirs to try and understand how he thinks.
I really enjoyed this book. I found it to be very well written, and insightful. It was amusing to see similarities between Robison's behaviour and that of my brother's. Admittedly, I did get a little lost when he was describing the technical side to his mechanical inventions, but when the author described people and social situations I was unable to put the book down. While some of his behaviour seems outlandish, it is written in such a way, that you understand his reasoning, and it seems more normal.
I think that this book is an excellent resource for people who are related to someone on the autism spectrum. While I don't think it's intended to be a 'tutoring' book on how to deal with aspergians, it does offer an insight into their mind's working. I would recommend it to anyone interested in memoirs, autism, or an interesting story.
