Carved in Bone: A Body Farm Novel (Body Farm Novels) Indcredible first novel from the real world experiences of Dr. Bill Bass of Body Farm fame. He (and his co-author Mr. Jefferson) compel the reader through the story as a fever-pace. The descriptions, and even more so, the dialogs and way of speaking (slang, dialect, ways of acting, etc) all put the reader on location in the "back woods", farms, mountains and caves of Tennesee. I can not wait to here when the next one is comming out.
(I read this as a hard cover because I could not wait to read it after reading Dr. Bass's (and Mr. Jefferson's) non-fiction book on the real life Body Farm facitity in Tennessee .. and I RARELY read hardcovers! From me that says a lot. ) Fiction that draws from fact Dr. Bass and Jon Jefferson are a phenomenal team! This book was nearly impossible to put down. I would have read it in two sittings had I not had to work one day!!! If you have Dr. Bass' Human Oseology field manual, have it at hand. "Dr. Brockton" makes reference to a specific page at one point in the story, and you can use the book to completely understand and visualize the scene in the book. Dr. Bass and Mr. Jefferson's book draws you in and and surrounds you with a tangible and enveloping story! I can't wait for their next endeavor. Fiction and fact in a familiar surrounding Carved in Bone is located in Cooke county, which resembles Cocke county TN. It was fun to read the familiar references while enjoying the mystery. I look forward to the next book in 2007.
